Dr. Karen Schwartz is a board certified Endocrinologist specializing in the treatment of hormonal disorders including diabetes, thyroid illness, obesity, and impotence. She maintains a special interest in the treatment of women’s health, transgender care, and menopausal medicine.

Through her patient centered approach, she believes that treating her patients entails focusing on each individual in a unique manner. By involving the patient with their treatment, she forms a partnership with her patients so that they become integrated with their own heath care.

Dr. Schwartz has a special interest in the care of mid-life women. She sought to integrate the disciplines of Endocrinology and Gynecology through her unique background in both, to comprehensively address the needs of menopausal women. She had supplemental training in Gynecology through her primary care residency at Long Island Jewish Hospital as well as hands-on training post fellowship. She performs a comprehensive exam, including breast exam and pap smears, transvaginal ultrasound and bone density. Dr. Schwartz is an advocate of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy when appropriate and is on the cutting edge of treatment for osteoporosis. She attends conferences regularly to remain up to date with the most recent innovations in her field. Dr. Schwartz has been invited to speak nationwide on diabetes, menopause, and thyroid disease. She was voted one of Long Island’s top physicians.
